GREAT Scholarships for justice and law

GREAT Scholarships for justice and law are for students who want to study at a UK university for a one-year postgraduate course. Students can apply for courses in a range of justice and law related subjects, including human rights, criminal justice and commercial law, at one of the 30 participating higher education institutions.

Each scholarship offers a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees.

The justice and law scholarships are in partnership with the Ministry for Justice and are jointly funded by the British Council, the GREAT Britain Campaign, and participating UK higher education institutions.

For the 2022-23 academic year there are 30 postgraduate scholarships available for students from the following countries.

Justice and law scholar study tour

We are delighted that the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice will host a three day study tour for all GREAT justice and law scholars at Sheffield Hallam University in 2023.

The Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice is a leading centre for social justice and human rights that provides a vibrant learning environment for international justice, criminology and law. The Centre’s values revolve around widening access to justice and education through cross-cultural learning methodologies and the desire to overcome social injustice across the globe.

The study tour will be based in Sheffield where you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow justice and law scholars and engage in a range of academic and social activities that includes attending workshops on key international justice issues, working with the lawyers who in the Helena Kennedy Centre’s law firm, SHU Law, and engaging with professionals in the Refugee Rights Hub and Human Rights Clinic.

The study tour will include visits to different parts of the justice system to see how law translates into real-life practice and we will also be making the most of the nearby beauty of the Peak District, Britain’s first national park.
